How To Make Sure Your English Bulldog Puppy Grows Into A Well-Mannered Adult Dog

Brining home your very own english bulldog puppy can be an exciting experience.  These little robust puppies are very endearing in both looks and personality and will easily pull your heart strings without much effort.  You will likely find it very difficult to stay mad at your pup and will feel inclined to spoil him with love and attention.  While there is nothing wrong with wanting to lavish affection on your pooch, you need to understand that a bully will not remain a little-one forever and what is cute behavior for a puppy is not the same for a full grown dog.

Therefore, you must provide your english bulldog puppy with rules, training and socialization.  He needs to know his place in your family pack and has to learn what is considered acceptable behavior or you’re in for a real challenge and problem when he’s all grown up.

All bully pups require early socialization with both people and dogs.  The more familiar they are interacting with other two-legged and four-legged beings the better the chances that they will be accepting of them in the future when they have grown into their own and become more set in their ways.  Take your little pooch to puppy-school and on frequent walks in public areas, such as parks, this will help him adjust to a social environment.

You should expect your english bulldog puppy to be stubborn, as this is a very common trait in this breed.  Though he won’t always try to challenge your authority, there will be times that he will attempt to exert dominance over you and any other human housemate.  This is your bully’s way of testing your ability as a leader and to see where he exists within the canine hierarchy.  For this reason, obedience training is an absolute must to show your bull-dog exactly where he stands and that you are not a pushover and more stubborn than he.

Bull-dog puppies love to chew, and though they can be quite laid back they can also be incredibly energetic and mischievous.   Therefore, keeping your home puppy-proofed, providing him with plenty of playtime and a variety of chew toys will keep your english bulldog puppy entertained, happy and less destructive.  Hence, you can better enjoy their youth and look forward to a matured dog.
